Online Plumbing Leak Source Diagnostic Course

Alpha Tradesmen Academy’s Leak Source Diagnostic badge expands on its plumbing program to offer training on diagnosing and locating leaks in residential and commercial buildings. Students with no experience in leak diagnostics will be able receive a proper introduction to the latest and most professional methods. Even the most experienced students will also find these lessons useful. They contain new information on state-of-the-art techniques and equipment and as a helpful guide to the fundamentals of leak diagnostics. Leaking pipes, equipment, and fixtures are a very common cause for plumbing calls, and this badge is highly recommended for anyone wishing to become a certified professional plumber.

Our online video lessons will be taught by lead plumbing instructor Robert Keith and draw from Robert’s over 30 years of experience as a plumbing technician. Videos will feature not only verbal instruction and discussion of leak source diagnostics, but also in-field demonstrations of methods and equipment, as well as visual aids to provide students with a well-rounded understanding of how to diagnose and find leaks in almost any situation.

Online Lesson Materials

In the first lesson, Robert begins by discussing the various reasons clients may be concerned over a leak, including wet spots, water stains, and unusually high water bills. Robert teaches students about using the emergency shut-offs in the building to find the general location of the leak. After finding the initial leak location, Robert instructs students to learn the type of piping in which the leak is occurring. Robert also encourages technicians to educate the client on the proper care and various issues that may arise with whatever pipes they may be using. Students will learn the finer points of finding leaks in the internal piping, external piping, as well as in supply lines and valves.

The next lesson will help students learn to find leaks in drain piping. This lesson includes DWV systems, as well as leaks in ceilings, behind walls, and even under concrete flooring. Leaks in concrete-constructed buildings are notoriously difficult to locate, and our online videos are here to equip students of all experience levels with the necessary knowledge. Students will also learn how to diagnose leaks in conventional household fixtures like tubs, showers, faucets, toilets, and more. There will also be a lesson on leak diagnostic concerning appliances such as refrigerators and dishwashers.

Once Robert has covered the theory and practice behind locating leaks, we move on to the wide variety of methods and tools used in leak source diagnostics. Robert will discuss and provide demonstrations for state-of-the-art equipment like thermal imaging tools that can be accessed with a smartphone or tablet and modern acoustic leak detection equipment. Other methods, like leak isolation, smoke tests, and dye tests, will also be demonstrated just as they would be done on a call.

Just like our other badges, there will be a few brief quiz questions at the end of each lesson and a final exam afterward. Students may retake quizzes until they achieve a passing 100% score. The final exam must also be passed with a score of 100% to complete the leak source diagnostic badge.

FAQ

Alpha Tradesmen Academy’s online plumbing courses include a Certified Service Technician course that covers all the basics that novice students need to know. The video lessons will introduce students to the correct terminology, theory, equipment, and methods for a wide variety of areas in the plumbing trade. As students progress to more specific courses in the program, they will gain a richer understanding of the overall trade.

Even the most seasoned plumbing technicians can utilize our online lessons to gain up-to-date knowledge on the latest methods, fixtures, tools, equipment, and more. Our videos also cover updated codes and regulations regarding safety and environmental concerns. More experienced students can also use our lessons to refresh their knowledge of the fundamentals of plumbing and other areas where they may be unfamiliar.

Inexperienced Alpha Tradesmen Academy plumbing students are encouraged to find an apprenticeship position at a plumbing company in their area. As an apprentice, students will gain experience while performing real jobs in the field. The hands-on experience will give students a better understanding of plumbing, as well as help the students meet the hours required to gain a plumbing license in most areas.

The plumbing program from Alpha Tradesmen Academy offers the knowledge students need on virtually all aspects of the plumbing trade. Students will be able to use the information they receive in our course when completing jobs as an apprentice, as well as when taking any necessary tests to get their licenses. Our program also allows students to more easily complete their required hours by granting them 24/7 access to lessons, quizzes, and tests online. Additionally, many products today require special certification from the manufacturer to be properly installed. Alpha Tradesmen Academy will show students how to get these certifications from either traditional or online courses outside of our program.

Many plumbing courses are directly or indirectly sponsored by competitive plumbing businesses, who use the courses as a means to recruit technicians from other companies. Likewise, other programs teach plumbing students how to leave their employers and start their own companies. Alpha Tradesmen Academy helps avoid these situations by creating an environment free of predatory practices and by training students to work as apprentices and technicians, not business owners.

At the end of the day, company owners are left with three options: leave technicians untrained and inexperienced, send technicians to costly, inconvenient traditional trade schools, or utilize Alpha Tradesmen Academy’s ground-breaking online program. With our 30-day guarantee and limited time offer of two free bonus badges, employers have nothing to lose and plenty of benefits to gain!
