Online Plumbing Drain Cleaning Course

With Alpha Tradesmen Academy’s Drain Cleaning badge, students will be professionally trained in the theory, methods, and equipment used to diagnose issues and remove blockages. Lead instructor Robert Keith will guide students through the various processes for drain cleaning and demonstrate tools and equipment used in the process just as they are used in the field. This badge is designed for individuals of all experience levels. Beginner students will be able to get a grasp of drain cleaning, while more experienced students can learn new techniques. The more seasoned students can also correct any incorrect practices they may be using before taking our course.

Our Lesson Plan

The initial lesson features a discussion on the various sources of stoppages. Stoppages may come from anything from grease buildup to objects flushed down toilets to more severe issues like pipe misalignment or bellying. Robert provides his insight on each type of stoppage with the help of visual aids to give students a better idea of how each stoppage looks. Robert also takes a look at some problems that may cause clients to incorrectly think they have a blockage, like pump failure or improper venting.

In the second lesson, we take a look at the different methods for removing blockages from drains. The conventional methods of cabling and jetting are discussed in-depth, while Robert also touches on the use of drain bladders, also known as “blow bags.” Students will find out which methods work best to remove certain kinds of stoppages, as well as techniques to avoid in certain situations. Robert also gives his advice concerning some less-than-professional methods that many technicians may attempt, but may ultimately hurt their credibility as a certified plumbing professional.

Up next, our focus turns to the drain cleaning equipment itself. In this lesson, Robert will demonstrate drain cleaning tools of all shapes and sizes. Featured tools and equipment include augers, various cable machines, gas and electric jetters, a variety of cameras, and more. Students will be shown how to properly operate and maintain the equipment with demonstrations that follow each step of the process.

The final lesson in the Drain Cleaning badge covers the procedure technicians should use for removing leaks at different locations within a given plumbing system. Video lessons in this lesson utilize a layout of a typical residential plumbing system as Robert discloses the best methods for removing blockages at various points. Robert will take students from room to room as he instructs the professional approach to accessing drain lines for cleaning.

Just like the previous badges, students will be subject to take a short quiz after completing each set of video lessons and need to pass with a score of 100% to move onto the next lesson. Likewise, the final exam will use material covered throughout the badge and also requires a 100% score to pass. Once students have completed the exam, they have earned their Drain Cleaning badge and are set to work on drain cleaning calls as a professionally trained technician.

FAQ

Alpha Tradesmen Academy’s online plumbing courses include a Certified Service Technician course that covers all the basics that novice students need to know. The video lessons will introduce students to the correct terminology, theory, equipment, and methods for a wide variety of areas in the plumbing trade. As students progress to more specific courses in the program, they will gain a richer understanding of the overall trade.

Even the most seasoned plumbing technicians can utilize our online lessons to gain up-to-date knowledge on the latest methods, fixtures, tools, equipment, and more. Our videos also cover updated codes and regulations regarding safety and environmental concerns. More experienced students can also use our lessons to refresh their knowledge of the fundamentals of plumbing and other areas where they may be unfamiliar.

Inexperienced Alpha Tradesmen Academy plumbing students are encouraged to find an apprenticeship position at a plumbing company in their area. As an apprentice, students will gain experience while performing real jobs in the field. The hands-on experience will give students a better understanding of plumbing, as well as help the students meet the hours required to gain a plumbing license in most areas.

The plumbing program from Alpha Tradesmen Academy offers the knowledge students need on virtually all aspects of the plumbing trade. Students will be able to use the information they receive in our course when completing jobs as an apprentice, as well as when taking any necessary tests to get their licenses. Our program also allows students to more easily complete their required hours by granting them 24/7 access to lessons, quizzes, and tests online. Additionally, many products today require special certification from the manufacturer to be properly installed. Alpha Tradesmen Academy will show students how to get these certifications from either traditional or online courses outside of our program.

Many plumbing courses are directly or indirectly sponsored by competitive plumbing businesses, who use the courses as a means to recruit technicians from other companies. Likewise, other programs teach plumbing students how to leave their employers and start their own companies. Alpha Tradesmen Academy helps avoid these situations by creating an environment free of predatory practices and by training students to work as apprentices and technicians, not business owners.

At the end of the day, company owners are left with three options: leave technicians untrained and inexperienced, send technicians to costly, inconvenient traditional trade schools, or utilize Alpha Tradesmen Academy’s ground-breaking online program. With our 30-day guarantee and limited time offer of two free bonus badges, employers have nothing to lose and plenty of benefits to gain!
